Detection of moving targets on the ground near a frontline or borderline is complicated because of a wide variety of inconsistent reasons, e.g. a frontline may move rather rapidly, requiring highly mobile sensors to survey any movements on the opposite side, while a borderline remains in position. In a peacetime situation a borderline might be crossed by targets at more places, because of the lack of intensive human surveillance, hence requiring more surveillance equipment. The FMCW based SQUIRE radar offers an unprecedented solution for many of these specific circumstances.
