To foster continuous improvement, the production departments of Thales Nederland are organised in Performance Teams (PTs). In this arrangement, the specialist and the shop floor are central to the improvement process. PTs provide improvements in the areas of communication, control and performance. The teams include people from work preparation, technology and, predominantly, the shop floor. In this way responsibilities in the department are placed at the lowest possible level.
Six-sigma
Besides statistical process monitoring, BB&S employs the six-sigma method for the improvement of the production processes, this method also making use of statistical instruments. Improvements thus achieved not only lead to a qualitatively better product but are also cost saving.
Flow meetings
Through the entire production process, products are monitored. This is done to anticipate possible problems or, if they occur, to enable them to be solved quickly, so that the progress of the products will not jeopardised for a single moment.
