Claire is a third generation thermal imager working in the midwave IR band, based on a focal plane array technology.
The imager is a new member in the Thales family of midwave camera’s that started with the Albatross camera.
The present camera is designed for integration into targeting and observation systems and vehicles (infantry and surveillance). Applications are e.g. in the DNGS (Thales day-and-night gunner system) and in the YPR MK3 system.
Due to the modular design, Claire enables a high degree of flexibility and can be adapted to specific user requirements, with regard to e.g. field of view, interfaces etc.
The large focal plane array, combined with the high-sensitivity and microscan, offers a thermal imager with a very long range for detection, recognition and identification purposes.
