On 28 December 1999 the Hellenic Shipyard Co. and Hollandse Signaalapparaten B.V. (Signaal), part of Thomson-CSF, signed a contract for the delivery of equipment for four gun boats to be built for the Hellenic Navy. Signaal supplies the integrated sensor systems for all four vessels. This involves the delivery of VARIANT as the 2D air and surface target defence radar, electro-optical target tracking sensor MIRADOR, and radar target tracking sensor LIROD Mk2, for accurate tracking and target data provision to the weapon control systems integrated into the SEWACO-FD based TACTICOS combat management system. Included are the new dual screen MOC Mk3 operator consoles, using flat screen technology for the display and control of the sensor and weapon systems. The TACTICOS software and MOC Mk3 consoles provide the infrastructural and operational integration of all sensors, including Link 11 tactical data link, and weapons into one operational combat system.
Supplied and integrated into the configuration are furthermore the Bridgemaster E navigation radar and the ESM radar detector DR3000 SLW ESM produced by Thomson-CSF Detexis.
In 2001 Signaal will deliver the first Modular Combat System to Greece. The remaining three systems will be supplied with four months' intervals each. The gun boats are to be built by the same shipyard that built the MEKO frigates, for which Signaal also supplied a significant part of the combat system equipment. |
