Thomson-CSF Signaal has been awarded a contract by F. Lurssen Shipyard for the delivery of the entire combat system for four new Fast Patrol Boats (FPB) for theTurkish Navy. They are the fourteenth to the seventeenth FPBs of the Kilic-II programme.
Thomson-CSF Signaal is going to deliver one MW08, one STING-EO, one LIROD Mk2, one SCOUT, one VESTA, and theTACTICOS combat management system for each of the four vessels and Thomson-CSF Signaal will act as integrator for the combat system. The FPBs will be built by Lurssen Shipyard. The first of the new FPBs will be built by Lurssen in Bremen, Germany, and the other three by Istanbul Shipyard inTurkey. The four FPBs will be virtually identical to the three FPBs of the Kilic-I programme.
Deliveries for the first vessel will take place in mid 2002.
MW08 is a G-band multibeam radar for medium range surveillance, target acquisition and tracking.
STING-EO is a medium range, lightweight dual-band weapon control system. It combines a 1.2 radar director with a full set of electro-optical equipment (TV/IR/laser).
LIROD Mk2 is Signaal's smallest smart gun-control radar and optronic director.
SCOUT is an I-band, short-to-medium range, FMCW surface surveillance and navigation radar.
VESTA is a landing, safety, identification and positioning aid primarily intended for ship-based helicopters.
The TACTICOS combat management system is scalable and has been sold to a wide variety of customers with different platforms, ranging from small patrol boats to large frigates and destroyers.
Thomson-CSF Signaal's relationship with the Turkish Armed Forces dates back a long time. Thomson-CSF Signaal has been a steady supplier of various equipment to the Turkish Navy and has been involved in many Turkish Navy programmes concerning frigates and Fast Patrol Boats, such as the Track I, IIA and Track IIB Meko 200 frigates, new Fast Patrol Boat series, and modernisation programmes for e.g. Dogan class. |
