Vosper Thornycroft, UK, and Thomson-CSF Signaal signed a contract for the delivery of equipment for three Fast Attack - Guided Missile - Craft to be built for the Hellenic Navy. Vosper Thornycroft Uk was awarded the contract by prime contractor Elefsis Industrial Enterprises S.A. for the supply of the design of the FACs. Elefsis shipyard will construct the vessels for the Hellenic Navy with the support of and delivery of material packages by Vosper.
Thomson-CSF Signaal supplies the integrated sensor systems for all three vessels. This involves the delivery of the TACTICOS combat management system, MW08 3D surveillance radar, MIRADOR electro-optical target tracking sensor, STING BS fire control system, integrated SCOUT and BRIDGEMASTER-E navigation radar, and the provision of Combat System Management Engineering/Combat System Integration (CSME/CSI) services.
The TACTICOS combat management system will run on the latest generation of MOC Mk3 consoles; three vertical consoles and one conference console for each vessel, thus providing five workstations and one command position. The integration with the Exocet ITL 70A surface-to-surface missile systems, one 76 and two 30 mm guns, RAM close-in weapon system, DR 3000 SLW ESM system and chaff launcher.
Thomson-CSF Signaal deliveries to the shipyard will start in the spring of 2002 for the first vessel. Deliveries for the two consecutive vessels will follow at six months' intervals.This is the second contract awarded to Thomson-CSF Signaal for a Greek program within one year. Earlier Thomson-CSF Signaal signed a contract for the delivery of equipment for four Gun Boats to be built for the Hellenic Navy.
