Thales has received the prestigious Frost & Sullivan 2006 Market Leadership Award in recognition of its achievements in the ground surveillance radar and unattended ground sensors markets. Frost & Sullivan grants the Market Leadership Award to the company that has exhibited market share leadership through a continued success of its market strategy. This prestigious award recognises Thales as a world leader in the ground surveillance radar market, as well as in the unattended ground sensor market.

Building on its strong experience and more than 2000 surveillance radar systems sold worldwide, Thales offers to its customers a complete range of products (BOR-A550, BOR-A560, SQUIRE) offering medium to long range capabilities, in different configurations: man portable, tripod, or mounted vehicle. In the unattended ground sensor market, Thales offers key systems such as CLASSIC, MIS, and SMAD.

Based upon the networking of such sensors, Thales has launched an initiative called LACS which purpose is to improve the security of military sites and projected forces.
This initiative has already met several successes such as SPECTRE, the assessment study in France, the supply of the MobIDS perimetric detection system to German MoD, the Compound Security DISCUS to support the Netherlands Armed Forces (both systems deployed in Afghanistan) and remotely controlled radar surveillance systems.

These successes confirm Thales as one of the world's leading providers of complete defence systems with an extremely broad product offering. These are the successes recognised and rewarded by Frost & Sullivan through the 2006 Market Leadership Award.

"Given the expertise and experience in systems integration that Thales possesses, its leading position ...,coupled with its active role in force modernisation, it is very likely that Thales will go from strength to strength ... , through creating new systems solutions or integrating new components into existing systems" said Frost & Sullivan.

"We are very proud that a quarter of a century of experience and our leading position on the Ground Surveillance Radar market place has been recognised by an independent organisation" said Pierre Prigent, Managing Director Thales Ground Surveillance Radar Business Unit.

Frost & Sullivan, founded in 1961, has 26 global offices with more than 1500 industry consultants, market analysts, technology analysts and economists. The company's mission is to research and analyze new market opportunities for corporate growth. They are the world leader in growth consulting and the integrated areas of technology research, market research, economic research, corporate best practices, training, customer research, competitive intelligence and corporate strategy.
