* allowances gross per month
The Office for Practical Training determines the educational category. The allowances can prematurely be adjusted in case of alterations in our tax legislation, student grants regulations and the employment situation. When the student works less than 5 days a week, above allowances will be adjusted in proportion. From these allowances medical premium, labour costs and coffee money will be deducted; trainees and graduates are therefore also insured for the Employee's and Social insurance.
Lodging
Thales compensates students for their extra lodging costs for up to Eur 160,- net per month. In any event, the lodging costs will never exceed the actual lodging costs incurred. In connection with higher costs of hiring in other parts of the country, our establishments in Delft, Den Haag, Eindhoven and Huizen may grant higher lodging compensations (fixed by the local HR-officer). This compensation is not intended for students who already live or study in the area. Thales can mediate in finding lodging.
Working hours
Thales employees work with a flexible working hour scheme (KWT). In Hengelo you may commence work between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and you may finish work between 3.30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Your standard working hours are from 8 a.m until 4.30 p.m. These hours count as the basic for your KWT-balance. Your lunch break is half an hour.
Students are (on average) entitled to a holiday of one day a month. Other paid leave will be granted for
- Volonta field trips, up to three days per traineeship or graduation;
- obligatory contact moments at school or university;
- (re-)examinations;
- getting acquainted with a company for another traineeship or graduation or for a job interview;
- collective rota hours, subject to the regulations regarding the reduction of working hours.
Long weekend
Students that stay in temporary lodgings and return to their (parental) home every week, are entitled to a long weekend in conformity with the prevailing long weekend regulations. This means that on Monday morning students may leave their home railway station on the first available transport after 7 a.m. and start work half an hour after arrival on the Hengelo railway station.
