Technical documentation is a means of carrying information on a product. Previously, this documentation was submitted as hard-copy on paper. Nowadays, it is also electronically available in different formats and can be delivered on a CD-ROM. Technical documentation accompanies every THALES system throughout its life cycle. Comprehensive documentation, which is organised in such a way that is serves the needs and requirements of different user groups.
User Groups
The documentation process starts in the design phase of a project and is determined by the design criteria and the system support requirements.
For all documentation, THALES has adopted international standards which are gaining world-wide acceptance with designers, manufactures and users of defence systems. The authoring phase starts at the design phase with:
- Logistic Support Analysis, i.e. MTTR, MTBF, FMECA
- Definition of Support Data and Maintenance Levels
As standard practice, all system manuals are structured according to the AQAP 110 concept. If required, they may be converted to customer specification. In all cases, system manuals and other documentation are verified with the system and are used during training sessions. Manuals can be supplied in book form or delivered electronically on-line or on CD-ROM.
